Have you ever experienced that you hoped for the best but expected the worst? And what actually happened was the worst?
Maybe you haven’t thought about it, but our subconscious mind is searching and looking for what we consciously or unconsciously focus on. That is, if one day you think, “I would love a black Audi”, you will find that the street scene is suddenly filled with black Audis.
There is nothing mysterious or magical about it. Our conscious mind is like a laser beam that can focus sharply on a few things at a time, while our subconscious mind has an eye on everything at once but showing us only what the conscious mind wants to focus on. Consciously or unconsciously. If we didn’t have that limit on our intake of information, we would simply burn out.
But do you use your laser beam – your conscious mind – to your advantage? What are you focusing on?
For years, I imagined funny and heroic stories about the heroes of LEGO City, and I witnessed time and time again how whole worlds I created in my mind through my imagination came true on screen. I was so focused on these universes that I often forgot everything else. Unfortunately, also family and friends around me. Fortunately, I have a family that chose to accept this.
But one day I thought, “CanI use my laser focus in my own life? ”
Can I imagine a future where I teach people to use their imagination to visualize the life they want to live and then help them move towards that future? Possibility Road!
I have created a meditation that helps you do just that. It’s called
and you can listen to it for free here. But read on first.
It has the ability to shape your reality, and through meditation you can harness your imagination (laser focus) to create your future.
Sounds a bit like hocus pocus, doesn’t it? But it really isn’t, and I decided to test it and prove it to myself. I decided to train my laserbeam to focus on one thing: TEDx.
I came up with the idea to become a TEDx speaker. I created a meditation that repeated the fact that I had already been on the TEDx stage, and I repeated over and over again via meditation what it would feel like to be on that stage, the smell in the auditorium, the sounds, the atmosphere, the floor, the stairs, the audience and how I would feel after giving the speech, and received a standing ovation.
I imagined every detail of being a TEDx speaker.
Six months later, I was selected to be one of the few who are invited to give a TEDx speech, and the way I was chosen, is so weird that I don’t have the courage to share it in this post.
Your imagination is not just a collection of fleeting thoughts and whims. They have the power to shape your beliefs, feelings, and actions. When you imagine something with clarity and vivid details, you program your subconscious, and you will often get the feeling that what you imagine in meditation is already part of your reality.
Therefore, it is important to use your imagination to visualize and imagine the future you would like to experience, rather than the future you don’t want to experience. But we often imagine the worst scenarios rather than the best. We become what we think and focus on!
Meditation gives us a tool to focus and concentrate our focus (the laser beam) and imagination. By learning to create inner peace in inner chaos, to be able to relax and calm the body (mindfulness) and focus exclusively on the future we imagine, we use the boundless potential of our imagination and we bring the future we imagine closer to us.
Visualizing your future with vivid details and positive emotions is like planting a seed in the fertile soil of your imagination. Through consistent focus and attention, this seed will flourish and grow into reality. You become what you think and focus on.
By repeatedly visualizing your future, you begin to act and act as if it is already a reality. It will attract people, situations and events that align with your vision, because your subconscious will show you what you have decided to consciously focus on.
By constantly meditating on your desired future and visualizing it with clarity and emotion, you train your subconscious mind to work toward bringing that future into your reality. There really is no hocus pocus in this. That’s just how the mind works, and unfortunately, no one taught us this when we were kids, and often we’ve instead learned to repeat thoughts like, “I’m not good enough, I probably can’t, don’t think you’re something special, you should be ashamed”. You become what you think and focus on!
The power of imagination is nothing less than a superpower. Through meditation practice, you can harness this power and create what you consciously visualize.
So, start today and think about what you would like to go towards. Imagine the future. Let your imagination take you on a journey and see how your future unfolds in ways you never thought possible.
With repetition and focus, you can train your subconscious mind to work towards what you imagine. So be consistent, be patient and experience how your efforts come true.
Listen to the Book of Wisdom every day for at least two months. You will slowly begin to believe – on a deeply subconscious level – that you can create what you imagine.
Give it a try – what do you have to lose?
